According to Apple, both the front and the back were finished with the most stable glass ever used for a mobile phone. The case is also made of laser-welded steel and a color-matched aluminum frame that's built to be impermeable to dust and splash water. A greaseproof coating is supposed to enable the wiping off of annoying fingerprint traces without any problems. In addition to its elegant exterior, the glass back serves another purpose: With the new generation of devices, the iPhone 8 can be charged wirelessly - via the Qi charging stations available separately. With this move, Apple wants to get a step closer to its vision of a completely wireless iPhone.
